Travel to Saskatoon

Air Travel

Saskatoon is serviced by the John G. Diefenbaker International Airport located 15 minutes from downtown Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan campus. Numerous daily arrivals and departures link Saskatoon with all Canadian, American and International points.

The Local Organizing Committee (through its preferred travel agent, Uniglobe Travel) has arranged for special reduced airfares of up to 12% off with Air Canada and up to 25% off with Delta Airlines for travel to the conference. Discounted amounts will vary, depending on the class of service purchased and the trip routing. Discounts may also be applicable with Air Canada and Delta partner airlines, though some restrictions will apply. 

To obtain the reservation code needed when booking your flights, you must be registered for the conference, and have paid your registration fees in full. Once you have completed your registration and all payments have been received, you can take advantage of the discounted arifares by making your travel arrangements directy through Uniglobe Travel by contacting Annette Frey and providing proof of your registration.

Alternatively, if you prefer to book your own flights or use your own travel agent, you will need to obtain the necessary promotion code. Once you have completed your registration and all payments have been received, please email the Rhizosphere5 Secretariat with your full name (as entered in the registration form) to obtain the necessary reservation code.

Ground transportation

Ground transportation between the airport, the downtown core and the University of Saskatchewan campus is available.

Saskatoon Transit (Route No 12) provides city bus service to the downtown core and UofS campus. Bus stops are located curb side just past the arrivals area.

Taxi service is provided from the airport. United Cabs is the licensed provider of  taxi service from the airport.

Pre-arranged limosine service is available; however, there is no shuttle service between the airport and the conference's preferred hotels.

Car rental counters are located inside the terminal building in the arrivals area. The airport has service from Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, National and Hertz car rental.

Driving to Saskatoon

TCU Place and the downtown core are accessible via the Trans-Canada Hwy. and SK-16W (traveling from Winnipeg) or SK-7E (traveling from Calgary) by taking the 22nd St. E exit.

The University of Saskatchewan campus is accessible via Hwy. 16 by taking the Preston Ave. exit (traveling south) or the College Drive exit (traveling north).
